SL/R129: 380 SL

380 SL
I am looking at a 85 380 SL . Very clean car but engines smokes out the exhaust. White ith a tint of blue. I drove around the block and it fogged the nieghborhood. Is this rings? Should I run or stay?

You should have posted this in the 107 section, but since we're here. Rings haven't been a problem for thirty years or more unless the car has been severely over heated. The possibilities that come to mind with what you describe are: The diaphragm in the vacuum module on the tranny is ruptured. The oiler tubes have come loose on the cam towers. Not as likely but it could also be valve seals or guides. Valve guide problems usually cause high oil consumption but not much smoke. Hope this is helpful.
