Xenon headlight installation- 2 issues
Hi-
I bought some used Xenon headlights for my 1995 sl320. 2 issues came up in the installation that I understand occur when installing in older version SLs:
1) High Beams
When the low beams are on and you pull the lever to turn on the high beams, by default the car disables the low beam. For optimal light output, I need to modify the chassis wiring so that the high beams DO NOT disable the low beams.
I have heard the solution is to put a "jumper" in- one simple wire- to eliminate the disabling of the override system.
Anybody heard of this or how to do it?--
2) City Light
There is a small bulb in the high beam (european version only) which is called a "city light" - it is designed to illuminate with the parking lights. By default, the US cars do not supply power to this bulb. Therefore, some wiring is needed to illuminate the city lights.
I have heard that the solution is to tap a 12 volt feed from the corner light (the parking light) to provide power to the bulb.
Anyone heard of this or how to do it?
Thanks. Tom

Sure Tom,
Find the combination lights switch connector, over the brake pedal to the left.
You must remove the panels.
Bridge the wire #1 and #3 with a heavy wire or connection so you don't start a fire.
That is it.
Regards,
aam.
