Sl320
car top problems

I have a 95' Sl320 that the convertibile top motors will not raise or lower top? Also there was fluid leaking out around the sunvisors where they attach to the windshield frame. When I activate the top switch to raise or lower the top it just has a clicking sound and then I get fluid dripping around the visors as mentioned. I understand there are 2 motors
that have had leaking issues with with this model? Where are they mounted and is this something that could easily be repaired?

I put the hard top on and used the manual tool that MB had in the car
but now I can't get the rear of the hard top completely locked down
and the buzzer comes on when car is running and the switch light continually will keep blinking?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Gary

There are 2 hydraulic cylinders (not motors) above the windshield that serve as actuators to release or close the top latches. These cylinders can be removed by an average ability DIY'er and rebuilt for around $50@ vs $150@ +/- at the dealer parts counter. This link will tell you how to R&R the front cylinders...

The cylinder rebuilder I've used is...

Last, you'll need hydraulic fluid to replenish whatever leaked out. Either Mercedes branded fluid from the dealer, or FEBI/Bilstein p/n #02615 (same stuff as dealer, just cheaper) The pump reservoir is under the spare tire in the trunk. After replacing the cylinders back into car, fill the reservoir to the full mark on the canister.

Good Luck, Have Fun
