SL/R129: SRS Light is intermittant

SL500 AMG 1992
Question SRS Light is intermittant
The SRS warning light in the instrument cluster appears occasionally. I'm wondering if this could be due to the contacts on the steering wheel rings being worn?

Has anyone had similar problems? advice / comments appreciated.
