Centre console removal tips

Hi there folks,

I finally bought a wooden center trim with walnut two-pieces roll-covers for my '97 SL320 R129.

I know how to disassembly the center console (i saw the tutorials), but those videos refer to a previous restyling. Mine is a '97 restyling and I've been told that the climate control unit doesn't pop out just reaching in from behind but is kind of locked... Well, can't check now 'cause the car is parked 20km away in a parking lot I rented. Tomorrow I'll be able to get it back to my house and start working on it.

Any advice on how to remove the center console on a late model R129? Is there something else different from what is shown in the videos? What should I expect?

Thank you in advance and please forgive me for my weak English, I'm Italian (a guido)

Cheers!

Insert two DIN radio removal tools in the two slots at the bottom corners of the climate control unit and you can remove it just like the radio head unit.
