Loose Rear View Mirror
I have just purchased a '99 SL500. The rear view mirror is loose. How do I tighten it?
Where is the best place to buy replica AMG 8" and 9" wheels?

Also, this forum has decent search tools that can help you find what you need without having to wait. You might want to make yourself familiar with them.
For your mirror, this link should give you what you need...

center rear view mirror loose
Tried the link without success;
is the mirror glass loose or is it the whole assembly?
If the whole assembly, can either put a piece of small black rubber hose behind the top of mirror and the support arm-- or best is to remove the mirror and tighten the ball joint nut.
If the mirror glass, then tried 2 methods I found on the web--only one worked. Took mirror assembly off, removed face cover, then added small screws to replace the broken plastic retainers which hold the flat springs that hold tension on the mirror in place.
Or buy a new or used mirror. I bought one with built in Homelink garage door opener for my 96 and still have my old one. I priced lower than others on eBay but didn;t get a decent offer.
There are also some on eBay or used parts dealers.

Loose Mirror
I too have a loose mirror asembly passenger side right at the mirror patch at the window.
Any suggestions as to how to tighten this as it vibrates badly at high speed.
