Another question for my '97 SL600

I've got the car home. I love it! I'll post pictures later. I have a question about the head rest: what switch moves it up and down? I don't have an owner's manual.

On the door, you'll see a black 3-part switch that resembles a seat. The top slider moves the headrest up/down. Push the slider down to lower the headrest; push it up to raise it.

Hmmmmm. I figured that out, and I found a miniature owners manual. The headrest does not go up or down. Looks like I've got something broken. So far, that is all that is wrong with the car.

Hmmmmm. What happens when you attempt to use any of the slider buttons on the seat controls? Same result for both doors?

On both doors, all of the buttons work except for the top one. Neither headrest moves.

When you try to operate the headrest button, can you hear the motor trying to move the headrest? If so, this usually means broken drive gears which are cheap enough to replace. If no motor sound, then the problem is obviously electrical either at the switch, seat motor, wiring, etc. Puzzling though that both side's headrest switches would fail at the same time.

Yes I hear a humming noise coming from the headrest on the driver's side. Where do I find out how to replace the broken gear?

Thanks for your help in this. I really appreciate the forum folks.
