SL/R129: 1995 SL500 Air Conditioning issue

1995 SL500 Air Conditioning issue
My AC unit works slightly only in Auto mode and only through the middle vents when I press the Blue recirculation button (otherwise all hot air).
When trying to use in Manual mode (speed 1, 2, 3, or 4) only hot air blows out.
Someone suggested the vents are not working properly and the whole dash has to come out to diagnose the issue.
Comments please?

For your ac question, these cars have multiple tests/diagnostics than can be accessed through your climate control unit and display the results in the LCD display for both stored and real-time events. The instructions and expected values can be found here....
