Trunk lock issue
2 - If you can wait a few days, because you have another car to use, just go to a Mercedes dealer and buy another key, you obviously need a spare anyway.
The first thing I did with every MB I've owned was to buy 2 new spare keys, one for my wife, and the other stored in the key box in the house, (for a rainy day).
Don't drill out or destroy the trunk lock, whatever you do, you'll either end up with two keys for your SL, or you'll pay really big bux to re-key everything.
Be paitient, all you need is the vin # and proof of ownership, and any MB dealer will reproduce the key for you, go see your closest dear now. It took my dealer about 3 days to have mine ready.
Just noticed you asked about your 2005 SL, that is a R230, a different forum as this is for R129's, which were made until 2002.
My comment about keys at the dealer is still the same though, go ask your dealer now.

Thanks Guys! I am sorry if am in the wrong forum. But this info did help. And I did go today to get a replacement key. Thanks to my husband who lost it.
