Drop Top rear windows.

Do I really have to replace the whole TOP & liner to just to get a new back window ? I hope someone out there knows a better way.

Window section

The window section of the rag top can be replaced. the shop ordered the "german" canvas and completed the project in two days. The reason was the plastic was discolored and cracked, all the other parts of the exterior were in great shape. The chemical tricks I read about and tried did not significantly reverse the amber tint. I place a towel in the window fold and never alter the top, up or down below 80 F degrees

I installed the r129motoring rear window replacement kit in my 98 last year. It took about 8 hours, but I am pleased with the results. Be forewarned if you elect to DIY, it is tedious.

The R107 Kit: 1) DOES NOT have a video to watch (2) Will only work on OEM tops, or tops that have been made to OEM Specifications. When in doubt, ask! (3) Lastly the window Trim & Seal only comes in black at this time.

Suggest you go out and take a look at the row of stitching closest to each of the three windows. Now envision yourself making each of those stitches by hand pushing a needle through two layers of canvas and the new plastic window and you must reach behind the window on each stitch to lock it. The instructions say you can stretch the spacing between stitches out, using one in place of original three. I did not take that approach; I stitched the exact same spacing as the original. It looks great, it doesn't leak, but it did take me about 8 hours to do.

I am very happy with the result, but want to make sure you know what you are getting into .

Thank you all

Thanks so much. I don't mind taking the time to do it right, and I prefer to do it myself. I have never sewn anything but a few buttons in the military but I am going to give it a shot. Thanks again to all. Now on to the next question.
