1996 Center Vent Clips
I removed the center vent to replace it. The vent is held by 4 screws. 2 are under a small plastic piece, 2 are in the box. The two screws under the plastic piece go through the vent and into a "clip" or insert that fits into a slot in the dash. Does any know what the "clip" is really called and how can I get a part # for these. The old ones are cracked and I think the vent will rattle if I try to reuse them. I tried the dealer but they had no idea what I was talking about and their computer doesn't show it. Thank You

I do not know of the vent clip.
Often sheet metal screws in one side approach areas use a folded over metal clip that covers a wide hole where a wide flange screw can auger into the "clip". The item is called a speed nut or screw bolt. Auto parts stores and hardware stores ( in the sliding box display, usually with the bolts, nuts et al section ) have them in many sizes ( both to clip over the hole, as well as match the thread spread of the bolt or screw ) and metal qualities. most often I buy a stainless clip but the black matte finish is a must in a vent, hidden screw application. Hope you can find the right product

Thank-you for your reply,
I found out that those large holes should have a plastic center piece that has a small hole in the center for the screw that holds the vent. I used epoxy putty to fill the large hole, then drill a small hole in the center for the vent screw. It seems to be working fine.
