Klaus of Top Hydraulics might opine about controller issues. I am sure they are the same size, however

soft top and hard top compatibility
The tops changed with the introduction of model year '95. All '95+ soft tops and hard tops are interchangeable, and all '90-'94 soft tops and hard tops are interchangeable.
'95+ tops have different seals (going hand in hand with the windows dropping for door closure in '95+ model years), there is an additional switch in earlier model years, and there's a magnet in the front of '95+ models. Also, the valve location is different for the bow extension cylinders.
Putting an early model top on a late model car ('95+) can be done if adding the magnet. Putting a late model top on an early model car is far more difficult; I would say inadvisable.
Jeff is right - most tops need fine adjustment on the front prongs after changing frames, and sometimes the rear prongs need adjustment, as well.
Here is a link for the front alignment: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129...djustment.html
Hope this helps,
