Need - Outside Mirror Disassembly Procedure
Does anyone have a disassembly procedure for the R129 outside mirrors? Ideally for a 1996, but I'll take anything that gets me started. I need to replace the glass inserts. Thanks in advance.

You Tube under Tamango's channel had video's for several DIY projects including the removal of the mirror shell. Nylon or some other soft plastic knife like tool can wedge between the two parts of the outer shell. A block to wedge the mirror toward the rear of the car is the first step in the "pry off". Hope you find the video, and good luck. Metal tools leave scratches!!!!

You don't need to remove the shell to replace the glass. The glass just pops off. Push on the upper left corner (on driver's side, upper right on passenger side) with your finger until the mirror won't move any further. Then, put your finger under the opposite corner (diagonally) and gently pull the corner of the mirror towards you. It will pop off its mounts.
The trick is reassembly because if you align the glass wrong, you can break the attachment points. So be careful! You have to line up the glass so it pops onto two motor arms, which terminate in small *****, AND the center swivel.
Just don't force anything (speaking from experience). It's easy to break the ball off the end of the motor arm. So, look it over carefully, take your time, and line up the three "snaps" with care.
