05 S430 & 99 SL500
SRS & Brake lights on
I just picked up my 99 SL500 from being reupholstered and now the SRS & Brake light are on. Anytime to car is moving there is a constant beeping noise that I assume is an alarm on the brakes. Any ideas? Since they both came on at the same time I am guessing it's a short or sensor.

depending how much interior work was preformed there are several connection reasons for the light and sound show. I would look to the seat belt connection and have the upholsters fix it.

Since you're warning lights are on, the computer is storing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. These can be read FREE at AutoZone or any other reputable parts seller local to you. Post the code #'s here if you can't get them defined locally, and you should have enough information to have an intelligent conversation with the upholsterer to point them in the right direction to solve the problem they've apparently caused.

To help refine the search area, the beeping (as far as I know) only comes on when the parking brake hasn't been released and you are moving. Was the rug changed out as well? It could be that a wire in that area was damaged.

well i know that beeping can come from the seats if the seat back isnt secured properly. my 95 SL500 does that. if the seat back isnt properly locked it beeps. so because it was upholstery i think that they may have damaged a lock or some sensor in the seat back that will cause beeping while in gear.
