SL/R129: codes wont stay cleared

codes wont stay cleared
i have a 93 600sl, nice car when it runs,lol..engine wiring dated 2007 but i had to rewire both eta,s did pin checks for motor and clutch and pots..all good, have blink codes 6, 38 which keep coming back, and car in limp mode,both cam timing sol. ohm out at the spec 4-6 ohms, and short test at both connectors shows all good, asr light on always, abs light comes on when backing out of driveway, what else should i look for?

I wonder if the wiring harness didn't get to all the "crosstalk area's. I replaced all harness and connections in the engine bay. ( 2 or 3 wiring structures )
I have had some systems "code". The particle size in the air sensor is microns that set my CEL off! Fluid levels in the suspension hydraulics and all fluid levels have set off codes that were very easy to DIY.
Our generation of 600's has both an old and new code systems and my indy uses two readers to clear the codes. ( I just watch I have not done! )

The clearing of codes has a short term aspect, that I use in remote travel and diagnostic, where as the mechanic actually uses the information to correct the problem (s).
My "get home" method is ; disconnect the negative terminal of the battery in the trunk. I keep a battery terminal size box wrench in the tool kit near the CD changer. If I have the time I will keep the battery disconnected for hours.
When I restart the engine, I turn the steering wheel full right-left-back to reset the ADS ? and years ago, the sound system code.
Good luck with the new "love hate" relationship. It is kind of like family reunions.
