91 Cigarette lighter blowing fuses

Yesterday I installed a new generic cigarette lighter in my 91 SL since my original has not worked in the 4 years I've owned it. When I put in a new 6Amp (white MB) fuse the lighter works once and blows a fuse. I can only assume that MB uses an element which draws fewer amps.
Any ideas. DON'T TELL ME NOT TO SMOKE.....I've already got a wife!

Cigarette Lighter blowing fuses

Went to a local salvage yard and got a Lighter unit (not the element) and it works correctly with my old lighter element. Evidently it draws lower amps and will not blow a fuse.
