92 sl500 disarm alarm: sounds while driving etc etc etc
hi
i have a 92 500sl and am Hoping someone, anyone, can tell me how to disarm this friggen alarm system.
my neighbors hate me,
cops think i'm a car thief and its quite embarrassing to be driving and about every 30 seconds, the alarm sounds and headlights start to flash
pleeaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee help

This reads like it's a short or a bad/loose sensor in the alarm system that doesn't sound to expensive to repair. Have you had an auto alarm specialist or installer look at it? I'd be inclinded to do that first before trying to disable it.

HI and thanks for the reply. No i have not had an alarm person look at it. Thought I had to go to the dealership and was really trying to avoid that.
Anyhow, I have found a way to stop it from happening but not totally disarming the alarm,
with the master key, put it in the truck keyhole, turn master key to position
2, then back to position 1 and remove. Then while my car was unlocked i quickly removed the #6 fuse to disengage the central locking system. lol wasn't easy to figure out, especially since the position 2 for the truck is very easy to skip.

Are you unlocking the car with the key or the fob? I have a 97 SL500 and if I unlock the door with the key, not the fob, I need to hold it in the unlock position UNTIL the blinking red alarm light under the radio goes out. I found that it is totally possible to unlock the car without disarming the alarm with the key.
