Where in the world are you?
Is it still a problem? The forum will give lots of suggfestions if "we" know more!
Does the alarm go off when you open the door?
Does it start while driving? going over a bump? turning a corner generating lateral forces?
Does the alarm noise stop with the key inserted in the door, ignition, Start of the car?
I have a 94 SL600 and my alarm has never gone off, except when I have opened the door by reaching in the top down vehicle after I locked with the fob or key.

sorry for the "where in the world..." You said Manchester UK in the manual question. What has happened with the alarm issue?
