Mercedes Benz sl500 r129
Antenna disconnected from the motor.
I was washing my R129 the other day and pulled on the antenna a little bit and it came up. I pushed it back down and didn't think anymore about it. Now it won't extend or retract. I hear the motor running but it's like the antenna has become disconnected inside.

You are correct, sir!
Reasons include gears in the antenna housing are stripped, ( on the shaft, in the motor gear housing or both ) The reinsertion did not engage with the gears of the two parts. Try again. or The Shaft has the gear part broken.
All in all an easy DIY if you have tools, flexibility to work in the trunk space, and are willing to replace parts. This forum or Benzworld have good write-up on the repair.
I had the best restoration from buying gear sets, but I also purchased an entire system, that didn't fit as advertised!

Being old I forgot the name of the AntennaMastRus web site, but they have been an excellent solution for three antenna issues, 2 R129 1 W 140. I can send you the wrong product german replacement, if you need to have parts sitting in your work space!
