SL/R129: 500SL check engine light

500SL check engine light
My check engine light came on for no reason. I checked the gas cap. I changed the oil last month but a maintenance wrench comes on when I start it. I ran the diagnostics and it still comes on. What else would make the check engine light to come on? There is nothing wrong with the engine????? Regards, Rick.

The most annoying, not worthy of correction for the 600 is the MAS in the airflow chamber. I have replaced but it has a sensitivity far beyond normal, and Kansas dust will set off the CEL. I have not replaced a second time ( new was about 1K for both ). The car runs fine. An Indy cleared codes and its off for several months, but has returned ( several times)

Hi, CEL shows to call attention with wrench sign for need of maintenance. See if you get a code. You may thing of no engine problem, but it will show later what is not functioning. Goodluck!
