Rear Plastic Window Cleaner
Based on a recommendation recieved on this forum, I searched out the supply of "Meguiar's - Mirror Glaze 17 - Clear Plastic Cleaner" (at a local marine / boat supply shop).
I would have sworn the window was completely screwed up before treatment. I had about 50% visibility. The damage seemed to be right in the plastic surface. No mild detergent had touched the cloudy appearabce at all.
The Meguiar's cleaner went on with the consistency slightly less sticky than honey. The colour out of the bottel was a muddy brown. It seemed that I had started to make a big mistake.
As I started ... I thought for sure I would be buying a new window.
1 hour - 15 minutes latter afer working and reworking inside and out .... I was happy to see a window that looks almost like brand new.
I ran out of time to apply the companion product that I had also purchased "Meguiar's - Mirror Glaze 10 - Clear Plastic Polish". Maybe this is over kill. Maybe it will remove the minor hairline scratches and add an anti static, protective coating. I'lll do that some other day.
My only regret is that the before and after pictures I took were not very interesting. The inside of our underground parking garage. But the visibility of cars is noticable one to the other.
Obviously no one had ever maintained the window in 4 years.
Here is the exterior finished shot. Clear & shiney now!
