Ball seat size for lug nuts
Fellas,
Can you tell me what size ball seat R129 rims have? Is it a 12mm or 14mm? Planning on using some SL rims on my W210. Thanks for your help.

Also wheels designed & machined for 14M lug bolts have R14 seats.
Since all R129's have 12M hubs, your answer is R12 ball seats on all factory wheels designed to fit a 129.
The only other question is shank length, which is wheel dependent. For all Mercedes Lug Bolts, the amount of threads sticking out the backside of the wheels should be 17 to 20mm.
Take a lug bolt on an unmounted wheel and hold it firmly in place in one of the lug sockets, then measure the thread length sticking through the back side of the wheel. If your measurement is not in that range 17 to 20mm range you need to pick up new lug bolts that are. Less than 17mm is to short, not enough threads grabbing for safety. Over 20mm and the bolt is loo long and may damage brake suspension components.
Trivia, they also manufacture oddball Lugbolts which allows you to mount M14 wheels on M12 hubs. These strange lug bolts have 12M threads for the M12 car hub, and a R14 ballseat to fit the M14 wheels. This is an exception to the rule.
Good luck, I hope the offset is compatible. It isn't always, as SL usually have wider wheels with lower offsets, which could cause rubbing on a 210's outer fender. But I see there are some 129 wheels that would work from looking at the size charts.
What size SL wheels are you talking about?

Info update
I just went back and followed the link you showed, and found the answer for the sizes.
Those sizes (7.5 x 16 et41), are W210 wheel sizes to begin with. I would have to see the PN on the wheel to confirm, but as far as I know the only 16" 129 wheel was 8" wide with an et of 34, also used on 500E 124's.
These wheels are a perfect fit, and I wouldn't be surprised that the P/N begins with 210xxxxxxxx
I just looked again at the link, those are 210 wheels, they are not SL wheels

I'll bet ya the P/N is A2104010402 ...![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
210's like 129s are designed for 12M lugs.
This is misinformation that I see a lot. Just because someone takes a set of wheels off a certain model, it doesn't mean they came from the factory that way.
The only true test is the Part Numbers and sizes cast into the back of the wheels. Owners swap wheels around like you change your socks., and if a newbie buys a car with swapped wheels, he has no idea what he has and says "selling SL wheels", when they aren't.
Frankly, at et41 I'd be surprised they would not rub on the inside of the wheels wells on a 129.
Anyway, these are great wheels, and a OEM fit for a 210...12M lug bolts.
If I recall, these wheels may be thin, requiring shorter lug bolts, make sure you measure before you mount using any lug bolt handy, very important as you could do damage with too long lug bolts.
In the other link/post one member gave you a link to a lug bolt seller, http://otisincla.com/ , they are experts and know exactly what you need, call them if your not sure, they have helped me in the past as well.
Good Luck with those wheels, always liked the way they looked .

MBWorld Fanatic!
The R129 would want an offset (et) between 25 and 35mms for optimal fit.
And a rim greater than 8 inches but less than 10 inches wide....the 10 usually for the rear axle but I've seen a R129 with the 10" AMG SL 2 piece rims (et25) on the fronts with 275mm wide tires.

210 wheels
When looking at the pictures and the info about the wheels he provided, it became apparent that the seller was wrong in telling him they were 129 wheels. The wheels that were bought were really 210 wheels to begin with. So the only problem left is to get the correct length 12M Lug bolts.
This threads really has nothing to do with 129's, the poster just thought a 129 owner could help him, (and I did..)...

And to Ed, good luck with the wheels, they will be perfect for you, just get the right size lug bolts... Happy Holidays
