1993 300SL R129
Gearbox problem
I have a 1993 300SL with 100000 kilometres on the clock ,recently when the automatic gearbox changes up from first to second gear it flares and other time it thumps into gear .
If I drive slowly it is OK and if I drive hard it is also OK just at certain engine revs I get this problem.
The other gear changes are OK only first to second gear is an issue.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this problem and how to fix it.

Come on fellas someone must have had the same problem before.
Note the car is fitted with a 4 speed Auto with the economy and speed electrical switch mounted beside the gear lever.
Please help

Mileage is low but the time is long. I would suggest you have your transmission serviced - have a full ATF oil change with a new filter.

The way you've described it the problem is at rhe vacuum modulator either it's out of adjustment or you have a vaccuum leak.
