Roll Bar lights are on ;-(
Hi All - I too am a newbie in need of some help. I have a 96 SL500 with only 27k miles.. It's a true pleasure car ! But I have the very same issue as some others - roll bar instrument panel light is on and the switch lights are on even though the roll bar is down. When I lift it about 1/4 of the way, the switch lights go out but the panel light stays on.
The Dealer says that it's a sensor and about $2100 to replace. I'd leave it be but I am trying to sell the car - I have a scooter which I love
! - but this issue is a real deal killer.
Anyone have any suggestions about what to do and where to take it for repair ? I am in the metro Philadelphia area and not mechanically inclined.
