1990 R129 Wiper / Turn signal issues - what next?

Here's what I have so far: Last year, the car was jump started with a boost blast of a battery charger (it wasn't me - my father did it when I wasn't around, so please don't shoot!). So, I now have no wipers. I ended up swapping in a used combination relay from ebay. Now no turn signals or hazards, and the wipers are on high speed with the wiper switch off. With the wipers on 2nd position, they stop in place. I then bought a new turn signal / wiper switch. Nothing changes, other than the horn blowing as soon as the key is turned on. It did this with or without the 2 horn switches installed. So I put the old switch back in. The hazard lights now work on the left side only, but only if I hold the switch - it acts as a momentary switch and doesn't stay on. I installed a used intermittent wiper relay and nothing has changed. The wipers still go bananas when you turn on the ignition. What's next? Hazard light switch? I'm out of ideas and extremely frustrated.
