Question on Dealer service vs Independent Shop
Hi all, I finally pulled a trigger and got me a 1999 SL500.
Beauty has 100kmi on it but from all the forums here I see it's not a big deal as the quality of service it received.
Naturally I want to get this checked out right away.
Right next to me is an Exxon station with mechanic that only deals with Mercedes and Audis - never seen a Chevy there.
He says he can do all diagnostics.
Do you suggest that I go to Mercedes dealer instead for full diagnostic or I can rely on the independant mechanic. Note that I have not serviced with him and as any new mechanic I need to establish a new relationship.
Mercedes of course says they can do it for $150/hr or something like that but can not guarantee the # of hours.
I'd like to save some $ but will not do at expense of my long term relationship with my new beauty :-)
