Has anybody heard anything about the SL 73 AMG? Was it even imported to North America? Just interested if anybody has any info.

I have seen a few lately, there are two or three in Dupont registry and there was one on Ebay recently, they were only going for like $35-45k. the resale on them is horrible, but they are freaking MONSTERS. i don't want to imagine repair costs though b/c its such a one-off custom motor and etc. you can't just repair it at any benz dealership (i think).

Don't even think about it. The SL63 and 73 were made before AMG became owned by MB and were never popular even here in Europe. They depreciate like crazy and the handling of the car just doesn't handle the extra power.

Get real, the 129 is not a sports car, it's a luxury convertible GT and you can put all the bits and mods on you like, you still ain't going to have a sports car. So best find a loved and cared for stock SL500 or SL600 and enjoy it.

I guess a 500SL/SL500 with a M119 engine should be adequate. I was just interested in in because it had a monster 7.3L V-12! The SL600 is good enough or even better, the 600SL with the original M120 engine.

Soooo much depreciation!!!! Do you know what AMG actually did to the engine. Bored and stroked it, lighter pistons..etc????? Must take A LOT of oil!

yup depreciation is HORRIBLE. The actualy 7.3liter conversion costs $49,500 ALONE !! and the whole cars are being sold for fraction of that cost. its kinda sad but i bet owning one would be CRAZY. its truly an amaizing piece of work, just to know that your car has the same exact motor as the CLK-GTR or the Pagani Zonda S.
