SL/R129: wiring harness two different reference numbers?
several months ago I bought a SL 320 (1995, 18000 miles!). The car is like new (please see my new member self-introduction) BUT the engine wiring harness is cracking.
Still looks like new and does no faults are diagnosed by the Mercedes dealer. But I did check the wires insulation and it does not look good.
According to my VIN the replacement part is #1404409905. Browsing the web we usually find the part #1405406932. They look exactly the same but the price is quite different (being the #1405406932 cheaper).
I wonder if you may help me out:
1. are the parts the same?
2. or are they interchangeable (no issues/worries attached)?
3.may you please send me the EPC (or other) correct schematics of both parts so I may compare?
(The Mercedes EPC is not accessible for european private customers, as far as I know --I did try)
My VIN WDB1290631F122765.
Mercedes dealer says the VIN indicates the #1404409905 as the correct part according to the engine number. But he also says that sometimes the parts are interchangeable.
Well, I would appreciate if you may help me out.
Thanks a lot.
My best wishes for you all.
Paulo
