1999 sl500
99 sl500 engine wont start
Hi everyone i just bought a 99 sl500 and i have a problem with starting the car. I bought the car from people that were driving the car daily but they got them self a new car and this one was sitting on a driveway for about two months. So At first i thought it is a bad battery that don't have the power to crank the engine. After replacing the battery there's still no crank. When i instert the key into ignition all the control on the dash light up. All the lights work fine. Windows doors without the problem. I check all the fuses and they all look fine. But the engine wont turn over. What can be the reason what should i check to get the engine to start. ?? Thanks for your help

The anti-theft system may have been activated. Try closing the doors, rotate the key to the unlock position then remove the key. Lock the vehicle with the key, remove the key. Unlock with key again and try to start the vehicle. I have this problem with my '96 SL500. There is an issue with the locks such that I can only lock /unlock from the TRUNK! Every time I unlock it the anti-theft is activated and I have to play the 'key game' for a few minutes to get the system to let me start the car. I don't lock it anymore.
