Hands Free Pickup
Does anyone know where the best position is in a 1998 Sl500 to locate the mic pickup for a hands free pickup? Works great with the top up, but where I have the pickup located on top of the mirror, with the top down there is too much wind noise going through the pickup microphone and I have to pull over to complete a call. I know this is a tough question and might not have a satisfactory answer. If anyone knows a location that is better please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Having the same problem as you. I tried putting a "wind screen" over the mic like they do for regular stage microphones. I bought a 4 pack of those black spongy ear bud covers at Radio shack for less than $2.00 and used one to fit right over the mic. Fit nice and tight too. Unfortunately it made very little difference. I might move the mic to the top of the steering column like I have on my Grand Cherokee. That should be out of the wind more, but I'm not too thrilled with the look. My SL has a tan interior so it will stick out like a sore thumb. If you have a black interior, it might be an option for you, along with the wind screen idea.

Pickup
You would think with all the readers of this forum and all the microphones pickups that have been installed in the SL's, that there would be a definitive location to place the mic at for best voice pickup. From my experience, most locations in the SL with the top down, make placement of the mic impossible to use!
