SL (R129) - Maximum Allow Wheel Size
Hi All
I have a 1999 SL500 R129 with standard alloys. I really like the AMG alloys for this shape and have seen a set I like.
The seller tells me they will go straight on as they were an upgrade option when the car was new.
These are the wheel details:-
Fronts: 8.5j x 18 h2 ET 25
Bbs Germany amg rt105
Hwa 129 400 1502
12 46 009
Rears: 10j x 18 h2 ET 25
Bbs Germany amg rt106
Hwa 129 400 1702
12 46 010
The backs seem quite wide, I don't want them to rub. Does anyone have any info on this.
Thanks
Oz

IDK others have used 18 inch. So I think its possible! the problem with any front wheel is the tread width and side wall width. experience with the 94-97 model year 10+ inch wheel tread width has caused a friction and worn away the wheel liner plastic. The back wheel wells have lots of space!

Did they fit ok?
I have 8.5x18" & 9.5x18" as standard. My car has the "body modifications" to allow their fitment. As far as I can tell this involves rolled arches at the rear with a small spat at the trailing edge of the rear arch.
