SL/R129: 1990 sl500 headlights

1990 sl500 headlights
I have a new to me 1990 sl500 after driving it a couple of weeks the headlights no markers or tail lights came on and removing the fuses is the only way to turn them off. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks Mark
