check engine light

I cant be only person this has happened to. 1990 300sl, with 144K miles. (new plugs, wires, distributer parts) The CEL light went on a few months ago. My MB expert mechanic diagnosed the throttle body. I found a used part and after it was installed, the car run much better and the light was out. Today, I took the car for a few errands, and the car ran great for the first few minutes. Once warmed up, the engine seemed to be mis-firing at idle, and was stuttering to get up to speed. I parked it and came back in 15 minutes, started it up and the CEL was back on and mysteriously the mis-fire went away. I'm back to square one, and hope someone can help me figure this out. Thanks!

You are correct, you are not the only one!
get codes, restart the process.
It happens all the time with old things ( cars included )
Good luck

do a search on this part:

After three failed attempts with a professional mechanic, I'm banking this will fix my problem... and it sounds virtually identical to yours.

Here is the link that inspired me:

I'll report back after installing once it arrives.

Installed this piece and no more intermittent sputter at idle and low RPM. At least for now. I'll be really please it it's still mis-free in a month.

my car's been in the shop, getting EGR valve replaced and vacuum leak fixed. if the mis-fire is still there, then i'm going to try your fix.

It's been almost a month and the mis fire still hasn't reappeared. I'm claiming victory!
