SL/R129: Top won't go all the way up

91 300 SL
Top won't go all the way up
Took off the hard top today, the soft top comes up about half way and stops, you hear a clicking sound when it stops, tried several times, no luck. Checked the manual it talks about a method to manually put it up, don't have the tool it talks about or do I see where I would use it if I had it, any suggestions would be appreciated, it is a 300 SL 1991, my email is D421996@aol.com

2020 S560,14 ml350, 03 sl55, silver, pano, slr cams, evo headers, lsd, 2019 s63 cab.
the older sl's like yours have sensors in the doors at the window motors. it could be a problem with that. maybe you have to have the dealer look at the car.
