SL/R129: warning light issue

warning light issue
I have a 1999 SL500. When I stop and idle at a red light for example my fuel warning lights start blinking. If I shut down and restart, the lights go away. What is going on here? Next, every time I start the engine my check engine light comes on with a different problem code each time. The check engine light stays on. There is nothing wrong with the engine. What is this all about? Help please!

What is the fuel tank fuel level? regardless of fuel level the low fuel sensor is being stimulated. At my age stimulation is good but that is another issue!
sometimes the electrical wiring near the tank is a starting place, other times fuse /buss quality of contact can be an issue.
With your newer model the CEL can stay on after an event the CPU doesn't approve until the code is cleared.
The list of "un-approved" ( that sets a code ) events is long but noteworthy. If you are new to the OBD II diagnosis it is a curse and wonderful benefit, but way beyond my expertise.

You may want to check a vacuum line. I don't remember the technical stuff, but at the front of the engine, on the driver (left) side, there may be a vacuum house that is disconnected. This is something that occurred when I had my 2000 SL600.
