94 SL 600 shopping advice

Hi everyone, newbie here, thanks for all the great adviceand info in the forum-- ive been looking to get into a v12 R129, and saw this on clist the other day:

https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5816410892.html

http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/5816410892.html

Im planning on driving up to check it out-- I've read about ADS and wiring harness issues, but is there anything else I should be looking out for?

Owner's friend who put up the add just txted me the VIN, which is
WDBFA76E4RF088398 . I don't have the carfax but if anyone can run one for me, I'd appreciate it.

I'm pretty handy w wrenching but sound like this is a go only if the wiring harness has been taken care of already, correct?

Carfax comes clean with 4 owners.
I don't know how far you have to drive, but I would not spend much time base on small pictures.
Ask seller to email you good ones.
Looks like they drop $2000 already.

Good luck with your purchase.

Based on those photos, she looks a bit tired. However, if maintenance records are excellent and things were taken care of along the way, may be a good buy.

Mine is a 97 SL600 and have had for close to two decades. Engine is bullet proof and if you are looking for silky smooth and powerful ride, this is the one to get.

Have had to replace the shocks once and if I recall they were more costly than the rest of SL500 ones. Along the way, things were replaced or fixed, but nothing unusual stuff.

Did not see the hardtop in those photos.

I have had no particular problems with the soft top but seems to be a consistent issue with the SL's reading other threads here.

I have owned previous SL500 and AMG SL, but V12 is a different animal. Very, very nice IMHO.

Let us know what your driving impressions were.

all the ECU type control units, if not rebuilt or replaced may be in the vehicles future.
The factory on the model cut off for 94 ( June 1993 ) placed the SL first! a look in the driver door label will confirm the build year.
Great car to drive! Work on, well ( if you have a lift and equipment. Also, if you keep a Benz mechanic on retainer! ) it can be fun!??
At 75K ( miles and maybe $, too ) on Dolly P. former Christmas gift I have replaced everything but the hard top!
Great for parades.
