SL320 for a daily driver??

I have been considering buying a 1996-1997 sl320 with about 50K miles and using it as a daily driver. I live in Houston, so around here we can drive all year with the top down. I am concerned about the reliability since I am in sales and drive the heck out of cars..any advice would be great!

Why not get an SL 500? The extra power would provide a lot of fun!

If it's been properly maintained so far, 50k miles is nothing. You can easily get 200k miles before any work needs doing; just have the car maintained according to schedule and let the engine warm up thoroughly before you push it and you'll be fine - for years.

If you can run to an SL500, you'll find the car has more character, more performance and not substantially worse gas mileage. An SL is a lot of car for a 3.2l engine to lug around.
