SL500 1992/3 Purchase
I am interested in knowing the thoughts of those who have owned the SL. I am interested in buying a SL500 here in Vancouver, BC. Canada. Prices are about the same now as a new SUV for the 92/93 years.
Anything I show be aware of when buying one? What to look for?
I have owned a 230slk and found it small inside. I am 6'3'.

I had 91 300SL for over 2 years... and even with mine 6'5" I never felt uncomfortable. my advise just take it for a long ride and decide for yourself.
Regarding what to be aware of? Well, its a Mercedes, so there is no such thing as "no big deal". So even small repairs gonna cost you a lot. When you will be checking car and negotiate price remember that. DOnt fall for "oh, its not a big deal" from sales person. Also make sure to check properly all electric/electronic functions. I had problems with alarm and roof 'control module'...
Otherwise no serious problems whatsoever, car was awesome. Loved it!

My 2001 SL500 was in my possession only 3 months. In addition to lack of comfort, the car was in the MB shop more than I care to remember, mostly electrical/electronic problems from burnt out light bulbs, visor mirror contacts, oil level sending unit replacement...
Get a new SUV with full warranty!
...unless you have time, know-how, and like to tinker with this good-looking, old & faulty SL500.
