Exclamation Bowden/Kickdown Cable Question

I recently had my Bowden/Kickdown cable changed on my 1996 SL320 by a mechanic working on imports. (My transmission is a 722.5)

Since that change, gears change are almost smooth when warm. However, when the transmission is cold, the following happens:

From 1st to 2nd gear: Shifts at about 1300RPM
From 2nd to 3rd gear, Shifts at 3800 RPM
The rest shifts at normal RPM (about 2000)

I read 2nd to 3rd takes some time to shift when cold in order to warm up the catalytic converter I believe.

My question: Is the 3800 RPM normal range when cold? It does it only once, meaning when I start the card and start driving, it will go through the scenario mentioned above. If I stop after it goes to 4th gear and drive again, it no longer goes up to 3800 to shift to 3rd gear

Before the cable change, it would go up to 2500 I believe.

Thank you in advance for your answers
