SL tyre sizes
What's the problem with 245/45-17 tyres on a pre 1998 SL500? The MB wheel cataolgue suggests some modification MAY be required.

There shouldn't be any problem. I just installed AMG 17" wheels with 245/45/17 tires on my 92 SL. Many SL owners update the wheels to 17' or 18"ers with no problem. 245/45/17 is the correct size for the 17" wheels on an SL.

Thanks for this. Actually my MB dealer had no idea [suprise suprise] so I think I'll go ahead with th 245/45-17. Thinking about Cotinentals as a good balance between ride and handling. Anyone got any comments?
