2000 sl500 all manual soft top operation??????
Can all of the electric and hydraulic parts be removed so that the soft top can be operated manually and can the hard top be installed with out the electrics and hydraulic???
A 17 year old vehicle will or will have many problems with this system---My old 560 sl was very simple to operate.......just asking.........................

I don't think that there's any need to remove anything, just disconnect the power to the hydraulic pump, and you can operate your top manually.
You'll need a couple of wrenches to operate the tonneau and front bow locks, though.

Thank you--did as you advised. Lowered and raised manually. Then tried the electric and it lowered and raised perfectly. One thing I noticed is that the ROLL BAR is not working now. When the roll bar was working the top was not working. That is not a big problen at this time.....Maybe the roll bar was the original problem with the roof not working.....
