1999 sl500 a/c vacuum block question
I have tried to read all the threads and watch the utubes on this issue.
MY a/c puts out plenty of cool air but I have the symptom of the center vents closing when losing vacuum and re-opening when the 'load condition' returns to normal driving.
I have noticed the small crack on the vacuum block and have one coming in the mail.
The question....when changing my cabin air filter I attempted to test the damper doors under the filter. I assume those are for the a/c recirculate operation. They remained open....SO...is this possibly also caused by the vacuum block issue? I am hoping the vacuum block replacement will cure this...if not I will have to look for cracked hoses or replace the damper door valves?
Thoughts?
thanks..Mike

The cracked vac block could be your solution.
Maybe other brittle junctions are part of the problem too. I don't remember if the baffle door under the cabin filter is open and then closed by the system with the climate control button being the controller.
Good luck with finding all the leaks! In my world it comes with age! and is a matter of "when" not" if"
