VIN Information
Getting ready to offer my 2000 SL600 for sale. It is a well kept car in almost pristine condition. Color is triple black, 42K on odometer. Hoping to get some help decoding my VIN as to what accessories may have been installed at the factory. I know there were not many options available on the 600s, but specifically looking to see if chrome 5 spoke MB wheels were an option. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a K40 detector that almost looks as if it was installed during the build process (instrument panel L.E.D.s are perfectly aligned. Any help is greatly appreciated.

VIN Information
That is the VIN number that appears in the windshield, on the door frame, on the title and on the Carfax. Not sure what data base you were trying, but that is the correct VIN #.

Not sure what is going on, but when I enter that VIN # in the MB World Decoder is shows a SL600R.Every other site I check it shows the same with the exception of a Russian site that asks for more money to continue the decode.
Appreciate your effort in helping, but I don't know what is going on. That is the correct VIN.

My apologies to both of you. I must have fat fingers. VIN WDBFA76F7YF189801. I must have looked at the 4th digit in the production number 50 times and didn't notice the 9 instead of the 8. Again thanks for your efforts.

1994 SL600 AMG
Hi. Looking to buy a 1994 SL600 AMG. Is there anything in the VIN which designates a true AMG? Going through the MB world VIN decoder it comes up as a SL600R. Badging on car says SL63 and AMG on rear. AMG badge on hood. AMG plaque on dash. But would like to know if it is real.

Unfortunately, I am not an expert on VIN identification. There are however several folks on the site that have resources that may help you. I do not believe you can determine authentic AMG status from a VIN number.
