1997 SL 500 speed sensor

Check engine light came on today.Auto transmission is locked in 2nd gear (limp mode). Code reader indicates front / rear speed sensors. Where are these located? Is it part of the transmission?

If you read the diagnostics correctly, the transmission speed sensor is apart of the conductor plate, however if it is a wheel speed sensor, they are on the wheels-----get off the couch and pull a tire---wada you see on the lower brake system?

They are on the conductor plate.

Metal shavings may be creating a short circuit, or the sensors are faulty. There are many videos on YouTube which discuss "Mercedes 722.6 conductor plate".
