SL/R129: TIRE SIZE

1999 sl500
TIRE SIZE
Guys got a 99 sl500, Looking to buy 4 new tires, The tires on it now are front 245/40/zr18. The rears are 315/30/zr18, I know that the rears should be 275/35/zr18 , question is will the wheel width be ok with the 275 , spoke to tire guy who told me that the 275 be about 2in less width than the 315. And the car is not a sport. Thanks

Yes to car stability. The side wall ratio will go back to a 35 and the ride will be more comfortable IMHO. The car will still get off the line, just fine!
