My Mercedes Benz SL 500's Roll bar will not automatically lower itself all the way or raise itself, without me pushing down on it or lifting it while activating the rollbar button. It is quite irritating and I would like to fix it myself but I don't want to start ripping things apart since I am not experienced with mechanical stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to me the left roll bar support (picture) is defective. If you are going to shop on eBay I suggest searching for "r129 roll bar hydraulic".
