1991 R129 500SL Stalling with video
Hi been souring internet for this issue on my 37K mile 500SL, only found one guy on Benzworld with same exact issue but post never revealed the fix.
whats happening is car stalls randomly, started 7 months ago, now the issue is happening in my garage big time, so getting closer to fix.
I can put the key in ignition and I get all the instrument lights on cluster, car starts fine and runs, everything works.
Then I can remove key and reinsert to position 2, get no instrument lights except SRS light, car cranks, no start, HVAC is disabled, both windows disabled, strange noise from rear view mirror.
I'm about 75% sure its something to do with ignition switch, possibly the electrical portion, if I tap on electrical connector , cluster lights come back on, key turns nice and smooth, not sticking, so lock part is OK.
It may be something at instrument cluster also, not sure? I've only found a few incomplete schematic's for wiring on switch, if I could test power in&out feed of switch, that would be helpful, lots of dead links on the net.
Parts replaced in the last 7 months
all fuses
OVP
New alternator, VR
Caps and rotors
Ran codes, one that repeats is 17 Crank position sensor, OHMs out at 800ohms don't see how that would kill voltage to cluster.
Opinions appreciated Thanks!

Just tapped and moved ignition switch connector and wiring , made the inst cluster lights flash on and off, so problem lies there.
