Over Heating Question

92 500SL

I know this question has been asked many times before. However, I want to throw it out there again for my own piece of mind. Recently replaced expansion tank cap. Topped fluid off to very top of the tank. I drove the car to the store 12 miles. On the way back driving 55 mph up a 6% grade running the air with ambient temp at 105 the car temp was 105. Got to the house and turned off the car With in a minute or so some coolant came dripping out in the drive way? Question... did the car over heat or was the expansion tank over filled? Also, is 105 considered normal operating temperature under the circumstances? I have read on this site that 100 is acceptable according to MB and no reason for concern?
