clock spring/steering and angle sensor replacement

I am trying to replace the steering angle sensor and clock spring on my 1997 SL500. Steering wheel is off and I have removed the 2 screws from the clock spring. . There is something holding it so I can't remove. Are there tabs that need to be pushed. Does anyone know how to remove?

i have tried pulling straight back but it feels like it is caught in the top right area. Do I need to twist or pry. I am afraid I will break the plastic parts. Thanks
