1992 SL500 Winter Hardtop Question

If I install the hardtop for the winter in New Jersey, will my rear window be ok come April. I will have it outside under a quality cover, or should I just cover it with the soft top? I am worried that the rear window will be ruined, being folded for 4 months. If MB sold the car with a hardtop I would imagine it would be ok. I did not have that option with my BMW. Any help would be appreciated.

4 months is no problem. Be sure that is 65/70 degrees when you first open it! I have done this for years without incident.

I put a "Pool Noodle" where the main window folds, so that it is less likely to crease. As sutliffe says, make sure it's warm when raising or lowering it.

THE POOL NOODLE IS GREAT WHEN PUTTING LOWER EDGE OFTHE HARD TOP ON THE GROUND TO PREVENT SCRATCHING!

I use a couple of tennis *****, with a slit punched in them, to slip over the rear hardtop tangs. Makes hardtop installation and removal a lot less anxious!
